Kyoto was the capital of Japan and home of the Imperial Court for more over 1,000 years,AD794 - AD1868. Countless temples, shrines and other historically structures including 17 world heritage sites survive in the city today.
The stage of the opening and closing ceremonies of the last feudal period, the Edo period. It is also the starting point of the modern Japan. A traditional landscape garden with a large pond, ornamental stones and manicured pine trees extends outside the palace.
2.Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion)
The temple structure and its garden designed for strolling are representative of Muromachi-period(14th-16th centuries) . Ryoanji temple is a calm Zen training temple with its simple and remarkable dry landscape garden. It is completely different from the traditional pond-strolling gardens of Nijo Castle.
3.Ryoanji and Kinkakuji
Built around the same period, so the contrast between them will surely arouse your interest. Visitors will find the two different faces of structure in the temple and the garden gorgeous and simple, even though it was the same period of Muromachi period. ARASHIYAMA area was developed in the Heian period ,9C-11C,when the Japanese imperial family and court nobles began building retreats here to enjoy the quiet, scenic surrounds.
So, history of the medieval period of Japan as well as Zen Buddhism is to be touched during this tour. On the way to this tour, we can pass through a Japanese cemetery and see the view of life and death of people.

In spring, bamboo shoots are seasonal cuisine for the Japanese. So, what are bamboo shoots? They are simply the newly sprouted canes that form just under the soil and have a firm, crisp texture.
